Aside from Islands in the Stream with Kenny Rogers, most fans agree, this is Dolly’s best. Eagle When She Flies is nothing less than any true Dolly Parton fan would expect. I thought only “Mark” did that with “FB.”) Dolly collaborated on this – her 31st studio album – and recorded duets with: Vince Gill, Lorrie Morgan, Emmylou Harris & Ricky Van Shelton, Ricky & Dolly hit the Billboard Country Chart Lottery with a #1 song from the album written by Carl Perkins (Rockin’ Years). My father, who was Music Row’s premier GOLD record (& Platinum) awards maker for 50 years before he passed at 91 years in 2016, took hundreds of backstage photos at the Grand Ole Opry over his decades at The Ryman and the new Opry and caught Dolly and Ricky when the album was hot in 92. And he had a photo snapped with Ricky that same night when he was leaving to jump back on tour after his Opry appearance. (Photos listed). The two photos are rare and were found with the awards in the boxes from his Columbia Records collection. Columbia ordered the awards when the album was certified and the “in-house” awards were sent to radio stations, DJ’s and music execs as a “Thank You” for helping with sales and promotions to achieve the sales needed for the certifications to Gold & Platinum. The photos were part of Dolly’s “photo shoot” for the album production and I have not been able to find them anywhere on the Internet. I believe they were provided to my father at the time he was given the order for the awards an probably sent out to the recipients of the awards. The “face shot” photo was obviously taken the same day the photo slick of the album cover you see in the listings was taken. You will notice the bottom right photo was the one selected for the final album cover. The COA reflects the order from Columbia, the provenance of my father’s estate as the origin of the award, and will have your name on the COA. You will also receive an identical COA with no name so you will have a “clean” Certificate of Authenticity for future use.
